>> Metro Captions is an industry leader in providing SCC closed caption files!

If you’re reading this, you probably know that even with the right software, creating SCC closed caption files for your videos can be quite a challenge. And we’re willing to bet that you’d rather be working on your business right now than struggling to create captions! That’s where we come in.

Welcome to Metro Captions. We’re here to provide you with SCC closed caption files so you can focus on your job – your business. SCC files, otherwise known as Scenarist Closed Caption files, are a very popular standard format for captioning. They’re used to generate closed captions in a multitude of applications. Aside from broadcast closed captions, SCC closed caption files are also used for web media, DVD and Apple products (such as iTunes, iPads, iPhones and iPods). No matter what type of media your SCC caption project consists of, we can handle it.

Good question! As you know, closed captioning allows online videos and TV shows to become accessible to everyone. This includes those who are deaf, hearing impaired or who don’t speak the language used in the video. When you give people the option of turning on closed captions in your videos, you can do wonders to broaden your potential audience. And it’s also important to note that in many countries like the U.S. there are laws associated with providing closed captioning to viewers.

So while you focus on your business, let Metro Captions take care of the rest! We’ll meet all of your production deadlines, and provide you with the SCC closed caption files you need to get your message across. We assign time codes to ensure proper synchronicity between text and audio, and guarantee 100% accuracy of our SCC caption files. Don’t get frustrated trying to create SCC files on your own… We’re here to do it for you!

How do you know if you need captions or subtitles?!

Due to their different contexts and purposes, captions and subtitles are characterized by a few important differences. Subtitles, as the name suggests, are usually placed at the bottom of the screen. Captions on the other hand, may be placed in different locations on the screen in order to make clear to the audience who is speaking. This is especially useful for deaf individuals who can’t rely on voice distinctions to pinpoint the speaker.

Subtitles and captions have some of the same hurdles to overcome, such as the vocabulary and reading skills of the program’s target audience. For example, both the subtitles for a children’s movie and the captions for a children’s television program need to consider the viewer’s reading time. Since most children don’t read as quickly as adults, this may mean using age-appropriate synonyms and shorter words.

Cultural localization must also be factored in. The UK subtitles for a French film might use the words “lift” (“elevator”) or “lorry” (“truck”) — words which may need to be altered for American audiences.
